I'm Meredith Gilbert.

Have you ever heard of making an actual camera using a cardboard oatmeal tub?

That's what I made one year in art class, in 7th grade. It took us quite a few weeks to work on this project, but the day had finally come to take our cameras outside and give them a test run! After strategically studying the lighting from the sun, we each had to pick a place to put our cameras outside and leave them there. 24 hours later, we got our cameras, took them inside, then carefully removed our film in the darkroom and developed our own photos!

What a creative way to inspire students into photography, right?

I will never forget the lessons I learned from that! It helped me with the way I see and photograph things and people today!

When I was around 10 yrs old, I used to set up backdrops using old sheets and party banners for our two pug dogs ,Sparky and Penny. I was obsessed with taking photo's and perfecting them one after the other. I sure wish I could find some of those photos to show you!

Camera's were often a gift I requested during holidays or birthdays.

Once I got to high school, I was part of computer class and Photoshop class. There, I learned all the tips and tricks of Photoshop and full blow editing techniques. I've always been self-taught, so after school I dove deeper into Photoshop and editing programs..totally geeking out in my spare time.

I got married in 2008 and 11 months later, we had our first baby! Of course after having a baby, your phone or camera is always full of pictures of your little one. I remember the days of trying to find reliable photographers to take pictures of my family...and after a few years (2012) and my third baby later, I decided to start up my own photography business! My friends were thrilled that they now had their go-to photog friend, and I was thrilled to be able to help them capture the most intimate and special moments for them.

That right there applies to you, too! You are special, your family is special, and your occasion is special! I want to help YOU capture the moment of togetherness.
